SEB Elukindlustus provided close to EUR 1 million in indemnities for loss events
In 2014, SEB Elu- ja Pensionikindlustus paid its customers over EUR 904,000 in indemnities for 542 insured events, which is 27 per cent more than the amount paid in 2013. Approximately half of the indemnities were paid out on the basis of loan insurance contracts.
According to Indrek Holst, Chairman of the Management Board of SEB Elu- ja Pensionikindlustus, customers who have taken out loans are, year by year, thinking more about the sense of security of those closest to them so that if the borrower should lose their ability to perform their loan obligations due to health issues or job loss, their family could still keep the home that has been acquired. Every year, the proportion of insured loans is increasing, in 2014 amounting to 75 per cent of new loans. The disbursements related to loan insurance made up 47 per cent of the total amount of indemnities paid out by the insurance company in the year.
Indrek Holst, Chairman of the Management Board, SEB Elu- ja Pensionikindlustus: “The insurance market is exhibiting modest, yet stable annual growth in Estonia, and in my opinion, this is a logical and forecastable trend under the conditions of a market economy where each family needs to ensure their ability to also deal with unexpected situations. The proportion of rejected applications for compensation at SEB in 2014 remained below five per cent.
According to SEB’s loss event statistics, the main causes of death in Estonia continue to be cardiovascular diseases and malignant tumours. There were 35 cases of occupational accidents in 2014. Last year, children were involved in 78 accidents, which is one fifth less than the year before. The loss event statistics about children continue to be led by domestic and sports traumas.
