SEB continues to support the Tallinn Marathon and Maijooks
SEB and the Sports Events Organisation Club signed a cooperation agreement according to which the bank will also support the organisation of the Tallinn Marathon and Maijooks in the period 2016-2018.
SEB first began cooperating with the Sports Events Organisation Club in 2004. Since that time, the SEB Tallinn Autumn Run has grown to become the SEB Tallinn Marathon, rising to become the biggest marathon in the Baltics and the biggest Estonian public sporting event of all time. SEB Maijooks, on the other hand, has become the biggest women’s motion event in Eastern Europe. These two recreational sporting events have gotten more than 250,000 people from over 50 countries moving.
“Both events have grown a lot during the time of our cooperation and have become public sporting events that people really look forward to. It is great to see that there are more and more proactive and dedicated people in Estonia who continue to accept the challenge of a marathon with each passing year. We hope that with our continued support the events will have an even more solid basis for development, making it possible to contribute to proactive attitudes in society as a whole,” said Allan Parik, Chairman of the Management Board of SEB.
Mati Lilliallik, Chairman of the Management Board of the Sports Events Organisation Club: “Today, as we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the club, it is the right time to look to the future. One of the challenges of the upcoming contractual period is to reach 25,000 participants in the SEB Tallinn Marathon by the one hundredth anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, and to become a widely recognised marathon in Europe. Over the years SEB has proven to be a solid partner we can count on, and we really appreciate it. We believe that due to our smooth cooperation we are able to continue providing positive running experiences to thousands of people and to continue to raise the level of popularity of both of the public sporting events among recreational athletes.”
