SEB presents a study on the Baltics’ shadow economy and business culture
On Thursday 30 June at 11 a.m., Professor Arnis Sauka of the Stockholm School of Economics will be presenting a study on the shadow economy and business culture of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The study addresses several aspects of shadow economy, such as cash in hand, which accounted for 17.7% of all salaries in Estonia in 2015 according to the study. This exceeds the figure of the previous year by 3.1% respectively.
At the presentation, Professor Sauka will be giving an overview of the completed study. Ivar Laur, Chief Specialist of the Intelligence Department of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board will then present an explanation on how labour taxes are collected in Estonia and on the situation with the registration of employees.

This is the sixth Baltic Shadow Economy Index study conducted among large-scale enterprises in the Baltic States and carried out by the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.
