SEB: Merchants at summer fairs prefer smart terminals
Merchants at summer fairs and other popular events are increasingly using smart terminals this year as buyers are showing a clear preference for card payments and, on top of that, such equipment has become more user-friendly. A mobile smart terminal that fits in the pocket and works both on a smart phone or tablet allows acceptance of card payments anywhere with data communication facilities.
“Merchants and their customers both love this smart terminal solution. The terminal accepts chip, magnet and contactless cards. This state-of-the-art terminal is environmentally friendly since card payment receipts can be e-mailed to customers. However, when needed, the smart terminal can also be connected to a printer at the sales point, using the Air Print feature,” says Meelis Nurk, who heads card operations in the SEB Baltic division.
SEB’s smart terminal works in Android smart phones or tablets via Bluetooth: an application is loaded onto the smart device, binding the smart terminal to a smart phone or tablet.
“Today’s technology is developing at a rapid pace, which is why we recommend renting instead of purchasing a terminal. By doing so, the hardware and software will be up-to-date with current conditions and as secure as possible,” Nurk adds.
In order to use the smart terminal, it is necessary to enter into a merchant contract with SEB and have an Android phone or tablet. The terminal can be rented from the bank for the desired period, for a monthly fee of EUR 8.
Nurk also adds that: “Estonians are an enterprising nation and especially during summer events it is felt that customers should be provided with convenient payment options. Card payments boost merchants’ turnover since the average card payment value is much higher than that of a cash transaction.”
SEB offers smart terminals in other SEB Baltic banks, too. More details about smart terminals at www.seb.ee/nutiterminal
