The most modern logistics centre in the Baltics will be completed in cooperation between SEB and Omniva
SEB and Omniva concluded agreements, through which the bank will provide the logistics company with an investment loan and overdraft facility of EUR 10 million and EUR 5 million, respectively. With the loan SEB will be financing the construction of Omniva’s modern logistics centre, the total cost of which, including sorting technology, will be EUR 17.2 million.
Artjom Sokolov, Head of the Corporations and Institutions Area, says that the growth of e-commerce, both globally as well as in Estonia, is only accelerating, resulting in cardinal changes to the business models for retail trade. ‘Estonian consumers are increasingly purchasing goods from local as well as cross-border e-shops, and these goods require rapid sorting and delivery to the buyer. SEB Pank is pleased to be supporting Omniva, one of the most ambitious and leading logistics companies in the Baltic states, in the implementation of its growth strategy,’ he added.
According to Jaan Sildam, Member of the Management Board at Omniva, next to the development of the company’s IT systems and the expansion of their network of automated parcel machines in the Baltic states, the construction of the new logistics centre is one of Omniva’s biggest recent investments. ‘We are pleased that together with SEB we have found a very good solution for bringing this investment to life,’ said Sildam.
Construction of the logistics centre is planned for Rae Rural Municipality, and will help Omniva to more efficiently sort packages and letters, thereby allowing it to improve and speed up its service. The heart of the logistics centre, set to be completed this autumn, will be a state-of-the-art sorting line, which is capable of distributing into a total of 400 different containers, instead of the currently possible 30, doing so at three times the current rate. The logistics centre covers 13,000 square metres, with the 70,000 square metre plot allowing for future expansion, if necessary.
