SEB offers service with sign language translation in its Tallinn branches
Starting from July, it is possible to receive service with sign language translation at the Tallinn Branch and this service is free for SEB customers.
A deaf or hard of hearing person, whose native language is sign language, has difficulties doing business without an interpreter. SEB wishes to service all customers equally and provide consultations to all of its customers.
“In spring we tried the sign language translation service at our Tornimäe office. The feedback was very positive and we decided to extend provision of the service to all other Tallinn offices,” Martin Kõrv, Head of Customer Communications at SEB, said. “Without an interpreter, communication of a deaf or hard of hearing person with the bank may remain minimal. For instance, only a bank card may be issued to the customer. Full counselling, introduction of different services and solutions is difficult without an interpreter. Writing can be used as a way of communication, but it is inconvenient and superficial. The broader purpose of the translation service is to overcome the communications barrier and provide the customer with full service.”
For those customers who wish to be serviced with a sign language interpreter, please contact our co-operation partner Viipekeeletõlgid OÜ and let them know the Tallinn office, date and time that you need the service.
