SEB and the Estonian E-commerce Association are holding an e-commerce conference
E-commerce is a rapidly developing field; one that crosses borders, absorbs innovation by requiring new investments, and has an eye towards the future. The conference “Baltic e-Commerce Forum 2019”, which is taking place on Tuesday 5 March at Kultuurikatel and which was organised by SEB and the Estonian E-commerce Association, will discuss the topics of e-commerce in the new age.
‘While new shopping centres here in Estonia continue to open their doors, the United States has reached the point where 15 per cent of shopping centres have a vacancy rate of 10 per cent for sales space. Business is moving from physical stores to online. The annual growth numbers of e-commerce are reaching 25% in the developed world, and the Baltic countries are also developing fast. This is a field in which it is important for traders, as well as payment service providers, to make sure they are present on time,’ says Meelis Nurk, Baltic digital strategy manager in the field of card payments at SEB, explaining the reasons behind the conference. ‘At the conference we will be studying current global trends and outlooks, and how to be successful there,’ adds Meelis.
The most developed e-commerce countries in the world are the United States, Great Britain, South Korea and Sweden. While the share of food product sales in e-commerce was only 2% in Sweden, as indicated by data for 2017, in Great Britain and South Korea it was 20%.
In the Baltic Republics, the share of e-commerce is clearly larger in Estonia than it is in Latvia or Lithuania.
Sharing their success stories and recommendations at the conference will be top international players from companies such as Google, Rovio, E-Maxima and others.
