SEB is upgrading their ATM network
SEB Pank has begun upgrading their ATM network comprising 232 teller machines. The first new cash deposit and dispensing machines were installed in Harju, Tartu, Ida-Viru, and Lääne-Viru counties. According to current plans, the entire ATM network will be upgraded by 2021.
The new machines are manufactured in Germany and thanks to their new hardware and software, they provide a modern and client-friendly user experience. The new machines also have several security updates, the most important of which is the first so-called ink protection system in Estonia*. So far, 33 machines have been upgraded in the course of testing. In total, up to 100 ATMs will be replaced in 2019. SEB’s Latvian and Lithuanian ATM networks are also being upgraded.
Ainar Leppänen, Member of the Management Board of SEB: ‘Even though SEB mainly focuses on the development of digital channels, our aim is to maintain the well-being of the entire banking infrastructure. With this upgrade, we turn our attention to reliability and user experience, as ATMs, each of which is used for an average of 4,000 operations each month, still play an important role as an everyday banking channel for our clients.’
In the fourth quarter of 2018, transactions made in the ATMs of SEB added up to 2.25 million euros; the average transaction was 127 euros. SEB’s ATM network consists of 181 cash dispensing machines and 51 cash deposit and dispensing machines; in recent years, the number of machines has remained relatively stable.
*Ink protection is an automatic defence system that activates upon an attack on the ATM.
